As I study Galatians with the women in my church, I'm doing something a little different than I usually do here on Pondered Treasures. I'm summarizing the passages, adding same parallel passages for explanation, then asking some application questions. It's my way of making sense of Paul's writing and digging for his meaning and and how I can apply it personally. It may only appeal to "Bible nerds" like me, but I offer it to you. May it help you in your study. I start with Galatians 1:1โ10.
Trouble
True Comfort Soothes and Strengthens
When I was seventeen I contracted amoebic dysentery in a Papua New Guinean village while volunteering at a youth camp. I thought I might die. I could not keep anything inside me but when I stood up for the necessary bathroom visit, I fainted. My mother, a nurse by profession, held my forehead while all my bodily fluids escaped with projectile force. At night, as soon as I cried, โI need help,โ my fatherโs feet hit the floor and raced down the hall to come to my aid. My mother soothed and my dad strengthened. I needed both for comfort in my suffering.
