Advent 2022 Second Sunday: Love

My advent meditation is inspired by my recent study of 2 Corinthians which ended with a beautiful benedictionโ€”the only one that mentions all three persons of the Trinity. Last week, we looked at grace. Today, we focus on love.

Advent 2022 First Sunday: Grace

Advent 2022 begins today, November 27. Advent, which means โ€œarrival,โ€ reminds us to remember Christโ€™s first coming and anticipate his second. My advent mediation this year will be inspired by my recent study of 2 Corinthians which ended with a beautiful benedictionโ€”the only one that mentions all three persons of the Trinity. First, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I could not keep anything inside me but when I stood up for the necessary bathroom visit, I fainted. My mother, a nurse by profession, held my forehead while all my bodily fluids escaped with projectile force. At night, as soon as I cried, โ€œI need help,โ€ my fatherโ€™s feet hit the floor and raced down the hall to come to my aid. My mother soothed and my dad strengthened. I needed both for comfort in my suffering.

Please Put Up with Me: A Call to Forbear

I walked into my bedroom and sighed in annoyance. My husbandโ€™s closet door remained open, the light shone brightly, and several drawers of his dresser lay wide openโ€”again! Google โ€œpet peeveโ€ and you will find all sorts of things that irritate us.

Six Responses When Others Go

After we have felt the feelings and admitted the reactions we experience when someone leaves our team, ministry, or church, we can then focus on how to respond well. I now offer six responses (from the upcoming book) we can implement to help us stay well when others go.
